Welcome, and thank you for your interest in plant-based living!
Have you considered transitioning to a plant-based diet for health, environmental, or ethical reasons? Are you curious about what eating more plants and less meat+dairy would look like for you and your family? Do you have questions about how and why you might make these changes? Are you inspired, or resistant, or somewhere in the middle? Are you already eating plant-based but would like more community, education and support?
Then this loving, fun and yummy no-judgement 15-day exploration in community is for you!
Testimonial: "Charity’s support and inspiration are just what we all need to move with conviction and grace into making life choices that better our planet and spread the love. Our group had a variety of reasons to come together and no matter what our goals or commitment to veganism were, everyone was welcome. Still eating vegan meals that were shared in the group and feeling great!" ~ Jackie Thurman, Preschool Teacher
About the 15-Day Challenge + Celebration
This experience is meant to be an inspiration to incorporate more plants and less meat+dairy for 15-days (rather than an all-or-nothing thing, although you could treat it that way if that’s what’s calling you), and an opportunity to look deeply and bear witness in a loving container.
The 15-day Vegan Challenge was exquisite, informative, and – dare I say – fun! Following skillful and adapting instructions, I discovered how little I need and how big the impact of “less” was on non-harming and environmental wellbeing. My body was surprisingly satisfied without meat and dairy and the recipes provided were simple and fulfilling. It was lovely to know I was a part of a thoughtful community and to be led by Charity Kahn, a gifted and insightful instructor.” ~ Ruth King, author and founder of the Mindful of Race Institute
During our three classes, I'll provide tons of practical knowledge: nutrition facts, and my favorite recipes, and techniques to strengthen your foundation for the journey. I’ll also weave in ethical teachings on interbeing and non-harming, plus various relevant mindfulness, compassion, inquiry, and body-based practices to hold us as we explore. And we'll have dance+stretch+party breaks!
This offering is also meant to be a celebration of every additional act of kindness we together as a group put into the world through our food choices over the 15 days. We live in a world where it's not always clear how to reduce the immense suffering that exists, yet our food choices have the potential to play a concrete and immediate role in alleviating some of that suffering. Now that’s good news!
Testimonial: "If you want to explore, or commit further to, a vegan diet within a friendly, easy going, supportive group, then I highly recommend Charity Kahn’s Vegan Challenge, which is full of great tips, recipes, and resources. Don’t hesitate to sign up for this life-changing opportunity!" ~ Thanissara, Dharma Teacher & Author
To further support you on your journey, I’ll send out daily emails and journal prompts, and share my favorite (easy and cheap!) recipes, tips and tricks, and even some cooking videos. We'll also have a WhatsApp group and resources spreadsheet. A 45-minute 1:1 consulting session with me is also included.
Components of the Challenge + Celebration
1. THREE ZOOM CLASSES
We’ll meet in community three times, once each at the beginning middle and end of the 15-day experience (recordings will be recorded in case you need to attend asynchronously).
2. DAILY SUPPORT:
Each day, I will send out daily support emails, including tips, suggested journal prompts, inspirations, cooking videos, and recipes, and be available to respond to your questions.
3. MID-JOURNEY SUPPORT:
In addition to the daily emails, we'll also have a buddy system: if you so choose, you'll have someone to check in and share with between our gatherings. We'll also set up a WhatsApp group for sharing inspiration, asking questions, etc. Additionally, I'll suggest documentaries and articles for you to engage with if you want to go deeper. And you'll have access to a Google sheet collating all this good info for easy reference.
4. ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT SESSION:
Participation in the course includes one 45-minute private session with me where you can ask all your questions, and/or get mindfulness-based support for your journey.
Payment
The course is offered on a sliding-scale donation bases. No one is turned away for lack of funds. All proceeds go to fund future PAEAN offerings that support people on their plant-based journey.
More Testimonials
"I joined the Vegan Celebration on a total whim. I found it to be so compelling, so eye-opening, so powerful, and completely inspiring. Charity and this experience changed my life. I have become a passionate vegan for life." ~ Laurie Pomeranz, Therapist, Beautycounter Director, singer in the JAMband
"I am super grateful for this workshop, the support from the group, the great easy recipes, and the caring and non-judging atmosphere. Before this workshop, I was eating meat and everything. I tried to stop several times but failed as I cook it for my family (I was only able to reduce). I still cook meat for my family, but for now almost 6 months, thanks to this program, I am proud to personally be vegetarian (not vegan yet)! You are amazing! Thanks for your kindness and support! ~ Solange Emsallen, mom and teacher
"In Charity's Kahn's Vegan Celebration I received lots of practical information on why and how to go vegan (with joy!) Just as importantly, I found a community of support and encouragement to help me transition to a plant-based diet. It was a non-judgmental, loving environment and Charity is a warm and gifted teacher. ~ Sharon McClintock, Children's Librarian at Mt View Public Library
